We plan for a broad and rich curriculum which includes special events in school, visitors to school and off-site visits.

Special Weeks 

We have special weeks each term when we work off timetable across year groups, giving children the opportunity to learn together through a cross curricular and creative theme.  Here are some examples: 

An environmental  art and DT week  called "Building for our Future"  

A geographical week exploring  countries "Around the world" 

Working with an artist in residence learning how to draw and paint animals 

"Investigations" with an emphasis on Science and Maths .

Exploring stories by Julia Donaldson through the Arts with a special focus on Dance and Music.

Exploring themes of sustainability in "Protect our Planet" week.

Researching the History of our School. 

"Wedding Bells"  - the royal wedding

"Problems and Puzzles"

"Spring into Easter" with a focus on the Christian story and new growth

"Stories through the Arts"

"China Week".

Special Days 

Classes visit places linked to their topics and visitors are welcomed into school.

Children regularly experience live theatre;  for example each year the  Pied Piper Theatre Company  perform at our school  in January. 

We take up opportunities to visit GLive for Music concerts and take part in collaborative projects such as the Magna Carta Project "The Freedom Game" at the Royal Albert Hall and have visits from other musicians through a link with the Surrey Hills International Arts Festival. Children have music workshops linked to their topcis. oe example Y3 Japanese music

Each year  children take part in a Science Challenge at Glebelands Secondary School 

Special days devoted to sport are also organised. For example the Surrey Outdoor Learning Adventure Day. Children are encouraged to try out a range of different sports and take part in local events and competitions. 

Special days have included: 

A creative arts and nature day at RHS Wisley a theatre Trip to GLive to see "The Tiger who came to tea"; visits to the Odeon Cinema,  the Rural Life Centre at Farnham, enjoying a Circus Skills day,  dance and drama workshops, and a Mobile Farm visit, taking part in the scarecrow festival at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show,  and many more....

As  part of our RE learning we take part in workshops at the Cathedral and visit our local parish churches. 

Our international links also enrich our curriculum and we enjoy visits from friends in Nepal, Ghana and China.

The whole school took part in a Chinese Olympics Day at Spectrum Sports Centre in Guildford.

Vishnu Sir from Nepal visited in Spring 2015.   Prince Boat from Ghana visited in 2014.
